Neurovascular Disorders
In our unit we provide the highest level of care for patients with aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) as well as other neurovascular problems of the brain and spinal cord. Our highly experienced staff includes neurosurgeons, neurologists and interventional neuroradiologists.
Utilizing advanced neurologic technology, this multidisciplinary team works together to prevent or minimize the neurologic impact of an aneurysm or AVM and maximize the patient's recovery. In our unit are also developed a stroke subunit for the patient who is suffering from ischemic brain attack.
Pituitary Tumors
The diagnosis of the pituitary adenomas, sellar and parasellar lesions, relie on a constellation of radiographic, endocrino-logical and clinical criteria.
Our unit is a referral unit for the evaluation and treatment of pituitary tumors, recurrent pituitary adenomas, and tumors or disorders of the hypothalamic- sellar and parasellar region.
Patients can be referred for the development of a treatment plan in conjunction with their primary physician. The transnasal-transphenoidal approach is the treatment of choice for the patients with pituitary adenomas.
Skull base tumors
The aim of our unit is to provide a complete range of services for the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with cranial base lesions. Patients may be referred for consultation and surgical treatment from all over the globe, and we are prepared to treat the tumors which involve the anterior, middle, posterior fossa and the cavernous sinus.
Epilepsy and functional neurosurgery
Epilepsy is a common symptom of a wide variety of cerebral disorders and in one form or another affects 0,5%-1% of the population at some time during their life. In our unit we provide the surgical treatment for the patient who they are suffering from idiopathic epilepsia. We are the first unit in GREECE which had already operated 10 patients. All the new surgical approaches and the technology are offered to provide the highest care to the patients.
Head injury spinal cord and spine injuries
The high prevalence of head and spinal cord injuries among civilian populations and the provision of adequate hospital servises have become matters of wordwide concern. The most common causes of head and neck injuries in GREECE are road accidents, falls at work or in the home and phusical assault. In our unit the management of the head and neck injuries are simple, rapid, multidisciplinary in the well organized hospital.
Trigeminal Neuralgia
We provide the surgical treatment, with microvascular decompression, in patients who they are suffering from trigeminal neuralgia (tic doloureux), glossopharyngeal neuralgia and hemifacial spasm (tic convulsif).
Endoscopic Neurosurgery
The concept of minimal invasive neurosurgery is to reduce the extent of various approaches. The use of endoscope may help to reduce retraction and at the same time may help to avoid additional dura and bone resection. The neuroendoscopy are used, in our unit, in sellar and parasellar lesions (adenomas, meningiomas etc), around the petrous pyramid, at the hydrocephalus and in the arachnoid cysts.
Spine and peripheral nerve surgery
Since the optimal management for an individual patient depends upon accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment options, our unit applies a multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and management of many spinal disorders. The multidisciplinary team approach and careful patient selection process increases the likelihood for successful treatment. We are experienced in the surgical management of the full spectrum of spinal disorders, including: Degenerative spinal disorders (spinal stenosis and disc herniation) Spinal tumors, Disorders of cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine A myriad of surgical options are available, from traditional surgery to innovative techniques (laser, endoscopy etc).
Spinal cord Tumors
We provide microsurgical treatment of intramedullary tumors (gliomas, heamangioblastomas ependymomas, etc), of intadural tumors (neurinomas, meningiomas,) and extradural tumors into the spinal canal. We also treat metastasis to the vertebrae in the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine.
